Henrietta Fore: How can businesses connect with their communities?
How can businesses connect with their communities? In order to authentically connect with stakeholders, organisations need a cause that individuals can gather around and feel empowered by. We spoke to Henrietta Fore about why having a sense of purpose is essential to solving complex community issues, from education to water to public health.
“All of us need to be purpose-driven leaders. You need to have something larger than yourself, larger than your organisation, which drives you and infuses you with spirit and drive and excitement.”
Henrietta Fore is the Executive Director of UNICEF, an organisation that works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them to fulfil their potential. Since its inception, UNICEF has worked with a broad range of partners at a global, regional and country level. UNICEF is engaging with Leaders on Purpose to join forces with purpose-driven businesses to build a better world for children, young people and their families.
In this interview, we discuss how the power of business can be harnessed for social causes, and why collaboration between sectors is essential to achieve these goals.
“If we’re going to take the world, we better link arms with each other and go out and change it.”
As part of the drive for change, Leaders on Purpose & the Fourth Sector Group have created an open letter, urging governments and businesses to “build the economic system better”.
